Thank you so much! Setting LD_PRELOAD='/usr/$LIB/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libxcb.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libgpg-error.so. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix? Thank you very much. This problem does not happen when I try to run the game from a fresh install of manjaro from the 16.08 disk image without updating.

A window will briefly draw for the game, then the window will dissappear without any further sign of the game running. After updating manjaro to the October stable update, I found that Civilization V will no longer launch.
